General Information
Arabella is a world class estate and with a rare gem of a golf course and lives up to its name which means “beautiful land”. The theme is balance. Challenging enough to bring you back for more, enjoyable enough to make you not want to leave. The design challenge was headed by the renowned architect Peter Matkovich. His undoubted success has resulted in a course that complements the environment without disappointing the golfer, whether expert or amateur.
The course was awarded the Golf Digest award for the best new course in South Africa in 1999. In 2002, the course was rated number 9 in South Africa by Golf Digest and number 5 in 2003. Arabella Golf Club was awarded the Compleat Golfer Five Star award in 2003. It borders the largest natural lagoon in Southern Africa, and the 9th, 17th and 18th run parallel to the lagoon.
Choosing a signature hole proves to be an extremely difficult task as all of the holes are well designed with spectacular views. The quality and conditioning of this layout is of the highest possible standards. The beach is not regarded as safe for swimming but is great for surf angling. The nearby Palmiet River offers swimming and kloofing. The town is situated less than an hours drive from Cape Town.
Directions
