Golfers are astounded by the breathtaking beauty of the par-72 Lost City Golf course. The rich green fairways give a dramatic contrast to the bushveld backdrop and the barren waste bunkers are a special feature of this intriguing course.
The desert style design of the golf course has an exotic allure all of its own and designer, Gary Player has acknowledged it as one of his favourite courses.
The Lost City Golf Course is flexible: playing off the forward tee a course length of 5 953 metres, extending to 6 983 metres off the back tee. The course provides spectacular views.
The most hazardous area of the Lost City Golf Course is the 13th hole. Inhabiting the water hazard are 38 crocodiles, some of them nearly two metres long. Golfers are discouraged from retrieving their wayward balls from the croc infested pool. The unusual water hazard is just one of the features that make the Lost City Golf Course exciting and interesting to play. No effort was spared to make the course a masterpiece.
Playing the back nine is like going on a golf safari. It has often been noted that the game is more exciting when played downhill and this is certainly the case here. In addition to the previously mentioned 13th, holes eleven, fourteen, fifteen and sixteen are all played from elevated tees offering thrill, excitement and challenge to the golfer. And some of the most spectacular African views to be had on a golf course.
On the whole a round at Lost City is an experience which one will not easily forget. But it doesn`t end with the golf.

Location
Bojanala-Rustenburg region is covered in natural bushveld vegetation. With the added attraction of the Magaliesberg, this region has much to offer to the eco-tourist. It is a natural game area with a number of fine game parks.
There is a large variety of historical and cultural interests to be found in the area, such as the German community of Kroondal that dates back to 1857, the indigenous Bafokeng, Bakgatla and Botswana tribes with their totemic and other tribal traditions.
Bojanala-Eastern Region is situated close to Gauteng, and is the most scenic region of the province. If you like adventure, this is your kind of region. Water activities, mountain sports, hang-gliding, parasailing, abseiling, hiking trails, angling, yachting, ballooning, cable way and leisure.
This region is host to the internationally-renowned Lost City Sun City complex with two designer golf courses, 6000-seat Superbowl, the largest casino and gaming complex in the country and its situation in the extinct Pilanesberg volcano formed more than 1300 million years ago. It is adjacent to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve which is home to thousands of animals including the Big Five – lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant.
Here rests the Cradle of Humankind, set around the Rustenburg, Magaliesberg and Hartbeespoort regions. The area abounds with relics from the Stone Age and early middle and late Iron Age. There are a large number of arts, crafts and curio outlets, especially in the Hartbeespoort Dam and Rustenburg areas. Many form part of the Crocodile, Rustenburg and Magliesburg Arts and Crafts Rambles – ever popular with visitors.
The northwest of the region borders on the Madikwe Game Reserve, a haven to visitors who want to live the African experience.
Directions
From Sandton travel north along William Nicol Drive, passing the Monte casino on your right. Take the road to the left onto Witkoppen Road passing Fourways Mall on your right. At the first set of traffic lights turn right into Cedar Avenue. Continue on Cedar Avenue for approximately 8,5kms to a T-junction. Turn left and take first right hand turn. Proceed 2kms to a T-junction passing over the R28 highway.
Turn right at the T-junction onto the R512. Carry on until the next T-junction (R27) passing the Lanseria Airport turn-off. Turn left onto the R512 to Magaliesburg. Approximately 9,4kms further on, turn right onto the R512 towards Brits. Cross the railway line and onto the bridge over Hartebeespoort Dam. At the T-junction turn right towards Brits. Travel to a major 4-way stop. Turn left towards Brits and Rustenburg.
Pass the first turn-off to Brits. Pass the R27 road on the right and you will see the sign boards to Sun City – 89kms. Travel straight for approximately 10kms to another sign board which says Sun City 79kms. Turn right, cross the highway for a direct route to Sun City (79kms).
